Foreign Trade Activities and International Partnerships

Skilled craft businesses are recognising and seizing their export opportunities. Around 50,000 companies sell their products and services abroad.

The most important markets are in neighbouring European countries, where customers have high-quality standards or demand bespoke services. Businesses receive advice and practical support for their foreign activities from approximately 90 foreign trade experts in the chambers of skilled crafts, trade associations, and the German Chambers of Commerce Abroad (AHK) in over 90 countries.

German skilled crafts organisations are also actively involved in many international partnerships and participate in development cooperation projects. The main focus is on supporting chambers and associations in small and medium-sized Enterprises in developing and emerging countries, as well as exporting vocational training expertise. With nearly 600 vocational training centres, skilled crafts organisations offer extensive expertise, from organising and designing vocational training programmes to delivering courses and administering exams. To meet the global demand for technical and craft expertise, skilled crafts organisations are an attractive partner worldwide.
