Omnibus 1: Now head quickly towards the goal!

On October 13, the European Parliament's Legal Affairs Committee (JURI) adopted its position on the CSRD reporting and the CSDDD as part of the Omnibus 1 relief package. Holger Schwannecke, Secretary General of the ZDH, states:

"Overall, the compromise marks a significant step in the right direction for craft businesses: less bureaucratic burden, longer preparation periods, and a focus on larger companies and serious risks in the supply chain are positive signals.

Now the Council and the EU Parliament must successfully reach an agreement and pass the legislation by the end of the year. The goal must be to reduce the number of companies that are required to report under the CSRD and to establish the voluntary reporting standard for SMEs (VSME) as the maximum requirement. Only then craft businesses can feel some relief, as some unjustified burdens will have been successfully avoided.

The momentum must now be maintained, also with regard to further burden reduction initiatives. Craft businesses urgently need comprehensible, practicable rules and no bureaucratic hurdles."
