Preparing the Turkish construction sector for the challenges of EU-membership

The construction sector is one of Turkey's most vital economic sectors. Preparing the countries EU-membership means that enterprises, industry associations and the public sector have to adapt to the EU's legal framework.

Within the scope of the project, the most important issues, such as public procurement, will be prepared and communicated to the partners.

The main objective is to create awareness within the Turkish construction sector, especially as regards to employees of INTES, in terms of legal consequences of the Turkish EU-accession preparations. INTES employees should be enabled to comprehend and prepare information of that kind and to inform and advise their member enterprises.

The Berufsförderungswerk der Südbadischen Bauwirtschaft GmbH (BFW) is providing the trainign material.

Objectives
The project aims to create awareness within the sector regarding new opportunities and risks of the application of legislation that is to introduce certification criteria for the building contractor field in EU countries, and was distributed under six titles within Acquis Communautaire as to be first and Council Directive 93/37/ECC “concerning the coordination of procedures for the award of public works contracts”

For this purpose, to supply training in five essential topics is intended by organizing enlightening meetings to relay EU experiences of relevant governmental institutions and occupational associations and then analyzing need of members of occupational association for training. In addition, to form a consultation department in İNTES to serve for Acquis Communautaire was intended. The Action will provide a communication network with relevant institutions and occupational associations in EU countries.
